If a postcard from me arrived in your mail this week, this page explains where it came from.
Our Facebook groups, WhatsApp chats, and even BuildingLink each reach only part of the building; many owners, especially those who don't live here, aren't represented at all. Mail is the one channel that can reach all of us, and I think this decision is important enough to have the membership's attention.
Where the addresses came from. Any owner can request the list of owners' names and mailing addresses under RCW 64.90.495. I requested it from the Association earlier this year. Because many Association mailings end up at vacant units or with tenants, I also checked each mailing address against the public King County tax rolls, to reach owners where they actually receive mail. The list will only be used to write to owners about matters of interest to our Association.
How the per-unit figures were calculated. The 2026 Board-approved budget includes $246,382 in base management fees and $1,252,042 in on-site payroll, for $1,498,424 total. Each unit's figure is that total multiplied by the unit's allocated interest as recorded in the Declaration (Schedule B). The postcard shows the range and median for each unit type.
Who paid for it. I did, personally. No Association funds were used, and no one else contributed.
What I'm asking for. That owners join me in asking the Board for one thing:
Before signing any new management agreement, the Board should run a competitive selection process and give owners the opportunity to observe the candidate presentations, receive the proposal materials, and ask questions.
You do not need to oppose the Board or support Columbia to sign.
Where the count stands. Owners of 30 units have signed as of September 19. The postcard went to print when the count was 23.
How to add your name. Email ccowart@timesinks.net with your name and unit number, before the October meeting on Wednesday, October 7. I will keep a count and report confidential signatures, but as public ones are verifiable, they carry more weight.
